About This Location:

Chris Benoit was a successful Canadian wrestling star for the WWE. In 1997, he began having an affair with the wife of his rival, Kevin Sullivan, after a WWE storyline to the same effect. Kevin's wife Nancy left him and she and Chris Benoit married in November 2000. The new couple had one son, Daniel Benoit.

By July of 2007, years of wrestling and steroid use had caused serious brain injuries to Benoit who often used alcohol to self medicate. Although there was no known trigger that set the events of the next several days in motion, Benoit was on the edge. On the night of Friday, June 22, 2007, Chris Benoit bound the legs and arms of his wife Nancy. He then kneeled on her back with his crushing weight and strangled her with a ligature around her neck. The next day, Chris drugged his son Daniel with Xanax then suffocated him while he lay in his bed.

Over the next day and a half, Chris called and texted with several of his coworkers, telling them that Nancy and Daniel had been suffering from extreme food poisoning. In the early morning hours of Sunday, July 24, he texted several friends the address of his home and said that the back door was open and the dogs were put away. Later on Sunday morning, he called the WWE office and told them that he would make it to the fight in Houston he had that night. This was the last anyone heard from Chris.

On July 25th, 2007, WWE officials requested a welfare check from Georgia police officers after Benoit missed his fight. Authorities went to the home and discovered the bodies of Nancy and Daniel in their rooms, and Chris' body hung from a piece of workout equipment in his home gym. Bibles were found next to Nancy and Daniel's bodies. No motive was conclusively found for the violent events, but experts speculate that the brain damage that Chris had received due to years of wrestling likely played a key role.

After the murders, the home was listed for $898,500. The home sat on the market for months, and after 4 price reductions and almost a year, it finally sold in August 2009 for $575,000.
