On the day after what was supposed to be her 15th birthday, the body of 14-year old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was discovered in a trash bag in the front trunk of musician D4vid’s (real name David Burke) black Tesla. Celeste had been reported missing over a year before and had last had contact with her family in May of 2024. Due to the level of decomposition, it is estimated that Celeste was murdered sometime in the Spring of 2025.
Though details are still coming out, Celeste and D4vid seemed to have had a relationship that started around 2022 when Celeste joined a Discord server for fans of D4vid’s music. The relationship became serious quickly with the pair getting matching “shh” tattoos and being seen together publicly. By May of 2024 Celeste had run away, seemingly to be with D4vid, and her family had filed a missing person’s report. That was the last time she had contact with her family, though there is video and digital evidence proving she was alive until at least January 2, 2025.
On August 28, 2025 D4vid’s Tesla, which was parked on Bluebird Ave in the Hollywood Hills, was ticketed for violating the 72 hour parking limit. Several weeks later on September 3 it was towed to Hollywood tow yard. On September 8 a tow yard employee called the police to investigate a foul smell emanating from the Tesla. When authorities arrived and opened the front trunk of the vehicle, they made the grisly discovery of Celeste’s badly decomposed body. Because of the condition of the remains, the medical examiner was not able to determine a cause of death.
An investigation was launched immediately. On the night of April 16th, 2026 D4vid was arrested at the home he was renting in Los Angeles and charged in the murder of Celeste. D4vid has a discography that includes songs with titles like 'Romantic Homicide', which today seem chillingly apt.
